WEEK IN RECAP: Neal B Covers the Official Oscar Party on the East, Law and Order Shoot, Hair, and more!

What a week!  I swear this stuff ONLY happens in New York!

New York City Neal B Style!

New York City Neal B Style!

Here’s a recap of this week for you!

  • New Opportunities and New Events! I officially become part of the ArtofTalk.tv family! I am on board with them as a web-video entertainment & events correspondent.  So tune in to see all the fantastic content on their page (and of course Elisa’s amazing editing skills put to work!). Press release here

  • Monday’s “Miscast”. The week started off with going to Miscast 2010 is a musical presentation of Broadway stars singing songs from roles for which they would never be cast (for example, last year Alice Ripley belted Sweeney Todd’s “My Friend”).  Cast included: Mo Rocca (The Daily Show, Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! on NPR) and will feature songs by Raúl Esparza (Company), Sutton Foster (Thoroughly Modern Mille, The Drowsy Chaperone), Montego Glover (Memphis), Ana Gasteyer (SNL alumna, The Royal Family, Wicked), Marin Mazzie (Kiss Me, Kate, Ragtime, Passion), David Miller (Il Divo), Aaron Tveit (Next to Normal, Wicked), and Tom Wopat (Catch Me If You Can, Tarzan). Here’s the article Here are a few pictures from the event

  • My Faceoff with Facebook.  The “F” word began my faceoff with Facebook.  My account was banned (hopefully temporarily).  So much for freedom of speech!  I should have learned by now! Click here for the full story

  • “Law” in Jersey.  Thanks to On Locations Vacations, we got the tip that “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” would be willing in Fort Lee, New Jersey (right over the bridge). Law and Order: SVU is a favorite show of ours and having already saw the production team in action in NYC, we decided to pay a visit to the set.  Surprisingly. we were the only outlet there.  Maybe it was because it was cold?  My hunch was because it was Jersey!  No one wanted to cross the bridge! • Nude and Nature. Elisa and I went to the village for a brand new art installation, which is getting huge buzz!  Brian Reed’s “Through the Heart of It All” combines artistic nudity, spirituality and nature for a beautifully done masterpiece.  For more information go to: For pictures and video, please click here

  • “Hair” today, gone tomorrow.   The Broadway revival cast of Hair is going to London (don’t worry- amazing replacements are coming in!) so Elisa and I were there to say farewell to some of the most amazing performers on Broadway!  THANKS ELISA FOR THE TICKETS!!  Sitting with the stars and fans, the show was purely raw, filled with intense emotion.  Click here to see some pictures/videos from the stage

On March 7, 2010 the cast of the Broadway revival of Hair took their final bow on US soil.  The Broadway cast is going to London (don’t worry- amazing replacements are coming in!).  This is a show that relies heavily on personalities and interpretation.  They have not only been tremendous performers, but the cast clearly echos the theme of “love”.   Elisa and I were there to say farewell to some of the most amazing performers on Broadway!  THANKS ELISA FOR THE TICKETS!!  Sitting with the stars and fans, the show was purely raw, filled with intense emotion.

Hey guys! I was lucky enough to sit down with Chasten Harmon, who is currently a swing in the Broadway revival of “Hair”.  I love people who do inspiring things and she opened up a HUGE brand new space called Space on White for artists of all types to come and create!  This place can do it all – host performances, workshops, rehearsal spaces, events.  Check out the video and the pictures below!

“Space on White exists to provide a comfortable environment where actors, musicians, singer/songwriters, directors, composers, dancers and creative inhabitants of New York City can better themselves as artists privately and peacefully as a family.

Space on White is an artistic facility designed to aid emerging and accomplished artists in a range of fields including music, theater, dance, yoga, and the visual arts. We want to encourage artists and give them a blank canvas in which to create new works, collaborate, polish their craft, and maintain and build the relationships necessary to aid them in their career.

We provide space for performance, rehearsal, group and private class and practice. Artists will have the freedom, resources, and support of a diverse and creative community to expound on their craft and showcase their talents.”

It was a late birthday present but as you know I am extremely humbled by people who go out and share their talents. I felt so privileged to see MANY talented people working together for two great causes: The Ali Forney Center and Broadway Speaks OUT.  This event was put together by incredible people and I urge you to donate your time, love, money -whatever!  It was great to see so many friends there and see this glorious turnout.  I also felt humbled to speak with not only the performers but co-founders and boyfriends Anthony Hollock and Marti Cummings and their parents.  They are a testament to what love really is.

Below are the pictures and video from the night’s festivities:

The Ali Forney Center and Broadway Speaks OUT are teaming up for A Very MARY Holiday to benefit their organizations LGBT causes.

The Ali Forney Center (AFC) was started in June of 2002 in response to the lack of safe shelter for LGBT youth in New York City. We are committed to providing these young people with safe, dignified, nurturing environments where their needs can be met, and where they can begin to put their lives back together. AFC is dedicated to promoting awareness of the plight of homeless LGBT youth in the United States with the goal of generating responses on local and national levels from government funders, foundations, and the LGBT community.

Broadway Speaks OUT is an online talk show hosted by Martin Gould Cummings. This informative program provides viewers with an inside look at Broadway, current events, and the LGBT community.

Broadway Speaks OUT is also a concert series that brings innovative and exciting music and theatre in support of the LGBT rights movement. Each concert features a variety of Broadway performers who use their talents to fight for equality. Every concert benefits an LGBT charity and/or organization.

First, what’s with everyone putting their baby picture on Facebook? Did I really miss THAT much when I got booted off?  ps sorry for my typos it’s almost 2AM. I am sure Julie the goddess of editing will let me know!

I have never done a blog and I want YOUR input!! I want this to be more interactive!  Trust me a few things are coming!  Well, I make no excuses for who I am or all the craziness I’m sure I have done. But I wanted to share somethings with you!
Well as shady pasts go…I’m sure I can think of a few things that  I wouldn’t want posted about -or at least now (But I will tell you one does involve a scandalous picture, the CVS photo center and my mom!!!)

But leaving that for now …ha ha! I did want to share a few things with you. . .

I do dabble in photography and I have done some pretty A-list (and F-List events). Here are some of my pictures:

Also I did a little stint at Fashion Week and a technology show!  This was my first time  interviewing and I was literally thrown in!  Click the pictures below for the hot mess ha ha!

Fashion Week 2009

Last thing I’ll torture you with is some poetry.  Though I haven’t done much recently I love to write.
Here are some excerpts through the years:

Love is like a roller coaster, and I’ve flown off a loop.
Now, what can I possibly do?
Thinking of the days when we were together,
Seemingly does not make me feel any better.

I laugh, I cry
-What do you expect?
I am hopelessly and utterly in love with the ex.

I don’t know how this could happen.
I don’t know how this can be.
I usually don’t like making my own misery.

All dressed up, I gazed into his eyes.

But my reflection I could not find.

A crooked smile on a beautiful face.

Looking so fair, still held his grace.

The laughter, and memories stemmed from our good times.

As I cried, thinking of his now vacant mind.

The tears loosened and began to fall.

After everything, this was my goodbye to him after all.

As they wheeled my memories away,

I know I will be with him again someday,

As quickly as he became my lover and friend.

He was gone – again.

Another day of nothing

Another day so blue

Turn back the hands of time

I’m not longer true

Just the other day, I was playing make believe

Now I make believe I’m something, out of this misery achieved

Another day to shut these eyes

Another day for my demise

Why can’t they see

We’re not “Generation X”,

“Generation XXX’” is more like it

Obsessed with outer beauty –guess, that’s the gist of it

Where’s my medal for honestly?

My frank openness -shouldn’t that count for something?

It’s so easy to hate yourself

And I’M the one here left with nothing

We are all in a hurry to grow up

Fast losing our youth: Babies booming faster than our childhood.

Let’s change the stereotype

Show them we have something to prove.

Change the bitter to the sweet

Nil to noteworthy

They’re all waiting for all to fall

It’s so easy for us to hate after all

As much as I like to be cool,  “in” instead of “out”

Everything seems to be passé, everything’s about clout

So don’t judge this book by its cover.

Although you may be dead on.

There’s more than meets the eye

Don’t prove me wrong.
