They fight against same-sex marriage. They fight against funding for AIDS research. They fight against adoption by gay parents. Are they fighting against themselves? Award-winning filmmaker Kirby Dick (HBO’s Oscar®-nominated “Twist of Faith”) takes a look at the hypocrisy of closeted politicians who continually vote against gay rights and actively campaign against the LGBT community they covertly belong to.

An official selection of the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival, OUTRAGE investigates the hidden lives of some of the country’s most powerful policymakers – from now-retired Idaho Senator Larry Craig, to former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevy – and examines how these and other politicians have inflicted damage on millions of Americans by opposing gay rights. Equally disturbing, the film explores the mainstream media’s complicity in keeping those secrets, despite the growing efforts to “out” them by gay rights organizations and bloggers.

Through a combination of archival news footage and exclusive interviews with politicians and members of the media, OUTRAGE probes the psychology of a double lifestyle, the ethics of outing closeted politicians, and the double standards that the media upholds in its coverage of the sex lives of gay public figures. As Barney Frank, perhaps the best-known openly gay member of Congress explains, “There is a right to privacy, but not a right to hypocrisy. It is very important that the people who make the law be subject to the law.”

The film also spotlights Michael Rogers, a gay activist and founder of blogACTIVE, a Washington, D.C.-based website dedicated to outing closeted public figures. Rogers feels it is necessary to expose the hypocrisy of those who may live one way in public and another way in private, explaining that his work is not about outing people who are gay, but rather about “reporting on individuals who are working against the community that they then expect to protect them.”

Kirby Dick is an award-winning documentary film director whose last release, 2006’s “This Film Is Not Yet Rated,” was a breakthrough investigation of the secretive MPAA film-ratings system. His 2005 HBO film “Twist of Faith” received an Oscar® nomination for Best Documentary Feature. Dick’s other films include “Derrida,” a portrait of the French philosopher, and “Sick: The Life & Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist,” which won the Special Jury Prize at Sundance and the Grand Prize at the LA Film Festival. Among his other HBO/Cinemax credits are 2003’s “Showgirls: Glitz & Angst,” 2001’s “Chain Camera” and 2004’s “The End.”

OUTRAGE was written and directed by Kirby Dick; producer, Amy Ziering; executive producers, Tom Quinn, Jason Janego, Ted Sarandos, Chad H. Griffin, Kimball Stroud, Bruce Brothers and Tectonic Theater Project; co-producer, Tanner King Barklow; editors, Doug Blush and Matthew Clarke; music, Peter Golub. For HBO: senior producer, Nancy Abraham; executive producer, Sheila Nevins.

Fighting back tears, Kate Gosselin said she is broke and can’t pay her bills after her estranged husband cleaned out their joint bank account. But, she said, Jon Gosselin did not touch their eight children’s money, which Kate said remains safe in protected funds she established.

“He took $230,000 of the $231,000 we had,” Kate told TODAY’s Meredith Vieira in New York Monday. “I have a stack of bills. The last thing I wanted was to do this show and end up not being able to pay our bills.”

‘Bad decisions’
Jon Gosselin virtually cleaned out the account that Kate said contains all their liquid assets last week after TLC announced that it would continue filming the Gosselin family, but was changing the name of their show from “Jon & Kate Plus 8” to “Kate Plus Eight.

First, what’s with everyone putting their baby picture on Facebook? Did I really miss THAT much when I got booted off?  ps sorry for my typos it’s almost 2AM. I am sure Julie the goddess of editing will let me know!

Fashion Week 2009

Last thing I’ll torture you with is some poetry.  Though I haven’t done much recently I love to write.
Here are some excerpts through the years:

Love is like a roller coaster, and I’ve flown off a loop.
Now, what can I possibly do?
Thinking of the days when we were together,
Seemingly does not make me feel any better.

I laugh, I cry
-What do you expect?
I am hopelessly and utterly in love with the ex.

I don’t know how this could happen.
I don’t know how this can be.
I usually don’t like making my own misery.

All dressed up, I gazed into his eyes.

But my reflection I could not find.

A crooked smile on a beautiful face.

Looking so fair, still held his grace.

The laughter, and memories stemmed from our good times.

As I cried, thinking of his now vacant mind.

The tears loosened and began to fall.

After everything, this was my goodbye to him after all.

As they wheeled my memories away,

I know I will be with him again someday,

As quickly as he became my lover and friend.

He was gone – again.

Another day of nothing

Another day so blue

Turn back the hands of time

I’m not longer true

Just the other day, I was playing make believe

Now I make believe I’m something, out of this misery achieved

Another day to shut these eyes

Another day for my demise

Why can’t they see

We’re not “Generation X”,

“Generation XXX’” is more like it

Obsessed with outer beauty –guess, that’s the gist of it

Where’s my medal for honestly?

My frank openness -shouldn’t that count for something?

It’s so easy to hate yourself

And I’M the one here left with nothing

We are all in a hurry to grow up

Fast losing our youth: Babies booming faster than our childhood.

Let’s change the stereotype

Show them we have something to prove.

Change the bitter to the sweet

Nil to noteworthy

They’re all waiting for all to fall

It’s so easy for us to hate after all

As much as I like to be cool,  “in” instead of “out”

Everything seems to be passé, everything’s about clout

So don’t judge this book by its cover.

Although you may be dead on.

There’s more than meets the eye

Don’t prove me wrong.

David Letterman reveals extortion plot; Blackmailer wanted $2M for ‘Late Show’ host’s sex secrets

A blackmailer is in custody after trying to shake down David Letterman – threatening to expose the late night funnyman’s affairs with several female staffers.

Manhattan grand jury is now investigating.

“I had to go downtown and testify before a grand jury.”

“I knew he was being blackmailed and that someone was arrested today,” Letterman’s mother and semi-regular guest, Dorothy Mengering, told The Daily News Thursday night from her home in Indiana.

“So far that’s all I know,” said Mengering, who said she heard the news from Letterman’s wife of seven months, Regina Lasko, with whom he has a son, 5-year-old Harry.

“I have not talked to him. I heard it from Regina. I’m looking forward to seeing the show to see what he has to say. I really just found out today.”

Letterman said he refused to submit to the shakedown, so he contacted the Manhattan District Attorney’s office Special Prosecution Bureau instead.

It was not revealed if the suspect is a man or woman.

“My response to that is, yes I have,” he said.

Letterman married Lasko, his longtime girlfriend, in March – and announced it on air.

“They say, ‘Well, why did it take you so long to get married?’ and, of course, the answer honestly is we wanted to make sure we had the prenup just right,” he joked.

“I had avoided getting married pretty good for, like, 23 years,” he said. “I secretly felt that men who were married admired me – like I was the last of the real gunslingers.”

Letterman was married once before – to his college sweetheart, Michele Cook, from 1969-1977. He dated comedienne Merrill Markoe after that, and started dating Lasko in 1986.

After the wedding announcement, guest Julia Roberts teased Letterman about getting hitched.

“You’re bound for eternity,” she said and Letterman replied, “That’s right, and never been more deeply in love.”

Letterman studied radio and television at Ball State University and worked in Indianapolisas a radio talk-show host after graduation. He moved to Los Angeles in 1975 got his big break when he began to appear on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Letterman started filling in for Carson when he was away in 1978.

NBC fell for Letterman and in 1980 gave him an hour show that aired after The Tonight Show.

Late Night with David Letterman” was a hit with young audiences with his zany new bits like “The Top Ten List” and “Stupid Pet Tricks.”

But NBC passed over Letterman and chose Jay Leno to replace Carson 1993 – a move that Letterman openly admonished.

He signed a lucrative deal with CBS to host “The Late Show with David Letterman” and went head to head with Leno.

On January 14, 2000, Letterman underwent quintuple heart bypass surgery and was off the air for over a month.

In December 2006, Letterman renewed his contract with CBS, agreeing to host “The Late Show” through the fall of 2010.

“Late Show with David Letterman” drew more young viewers than “The Tonight Show” last week for the first time ever.
