This Sunday, the Gay Men’s Health Crisis will host their 25th annual AIDS Walk, a massive fundraising effort to benefit  HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and advocacy programs.

The Centers for Disease Control says New York City remains the epicenter of the HIV and AIDS epidemic — they estimate that more than 100,000 people living with HIV in the city.

Since starting the walk in 1986, he organization has raised more than $110 million to fight AIDS in New York.

The 10 kilometer walk starts at 10:00 a.m. in Central Park on Sunday and will take the estimated 45,000 pedestrians through the park and the West Side of Manhattan.

The walk hopes to raise $5.3 million this year, with funds going to the Gay Men’s Health Crisis and 43 other tri-state area AIDS service organizations.
