On August 24, 2010 I was honored to attend the soft launch party for Proud Ally.  Proud Ally is a new grassroots organization that promotes straight support of equal rights through visual media. Our mission is to create and collect images and video that speak for the social change we are all fighting for. We also connect allies to organizations such as MENY, GetEQUAL, Courage Campaign, etc, so that we can all join the LGBT community in collective action, in both online and offline activism.

Top uniformed officer: Gay ban should be lifted

WASHINGTON – The military’s top uniformed officer on Tuesday made an impassioned plea for allowing gays to serve openly in uniform, telling a Senate panel it was a matter of integrity and that it is wrong to force people to “lie about who they are in order to defend their fellow citizens.”

How San Diego mayor shifted on gay marriage

SAN FRANCISCO — San Diego’s Republican mayor testified emotionally Tuesday about his transformation from a foe to a friend of same-sex marriage and spotlighted a central issue in the Proposition 8 case – whether the law can be based on prejudice against lesbians and gays if many supporters harbor no anti-gay bias.
